Privacy Policy
Effective date: 09/29/2026
This Privacy Policy explains how PrivateFloodRates.com ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information about people who visit the site or request flood insurance quotes through it. It applies to the site and to the calls, texts, and emails that come from it. Your use of the site is also governed by our Terms of Use.
The short version: when you ask for a flood insurance quote, we share the information you submit with insurance agents, agencies, brokers, and carriers ("Partners") who may pay us for it and who may contact you. You can opt out of future sharing and contact at any time; see Sections 6 and 9.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us. When you fill out a quote request or contact us, we collect what you enter, such as your name, email address, phone number, property address, and details about the property and coverage you want (for example, whether you own the home, its flood zone, construction, elevation, and current coverage).
Information collected automatically. When you visit the site, we and our service providers collect technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, time on page, the website or ad that referred you, and general location derived from your IP address. We collect this through cookies, pixels, and similar technologies.
Consent records. We may use consent-verification services, such as ActiveProspect's TrustedForm or Jornaya, that record your session on our quote form, including the page you saw, what you typed, your clicks, the time, and your IP address. This creates a record showing that you agreed to be contacted, as required under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act. These providers handle that data under their own privacy policies.
Information from others. We may receive information from Partners about how a referral turned out, and from advertising platforms about which ads led you to us.
2. How we use information
- To process your quote request and connect you with Partners who may be able to help.
- To contact you about your request by phone, text, or email, as you agreed to on our form.
- To keep records that document your consent to be contacted.
- To measure and improve our advertising, including on Google Ads and Microsoft Advertising.
- To operate, secure, and improve the site, and to detect fraud and fake submissions.
- To comply with the law, respond to legal requests, and enforce our Terms of Use.
3. How we share information
With Partners. Our business is connecting you with flood insurance providers. When you submit a quote request, we share your contact and property information with one or more Partners so they can contact you with quotes and information. Partners may pay us for this information, which may count as a "sale" of personal information under some state privacy laws. Once a Partner receives your information, its use is governed by that Partner's own privacy policy.
With service providers. We use companies that help us run the site and our business, including web hosting, form processing, email and texting, analytics, consent verification, and advertising. They may use your information only to provide those services to us.
With advertising platforms. We use tools from companies such as Google and Microsoft to measure ad performance and show ads to people who have visited the site. Their use of cookies is described in Section 4.
For legal reasons and business transfers. We may disclose information when required by law, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or as part of a sale, merger, or transfer of the business.
4. Cookies and advertising
Cookies and pixels help us understand how visitors use the site and which ads work. We may use Google Analytics, Google Ads conversion tracking and remarketing, and Microsoft Advertising's Universal Event Tracking. These companies may use cookies to show you ads based on your visit to this and other websites.
You can limit this by adjusting your browser's cookie settings, installing the Google Analytics opt-out add-on, managing your Google ad settings, or visiting the Digital Advertising Alliance's opt-out page. We honor Global Privacy Control signals as a request to opt out of sale and sharing for that browser. Our site does not respond to other "Do Not Track" signals.
5. Calls, texts, and emails
If you gave consent on our form, we and the Partners named there may contact you about flood insurance, including with automated calls and texts. You can stop texts by replying STOP, ask any caller to stop calling, or unsubscribe using the link in any email. You can also reach us at quotes@privatefloodrates.com or (888) 800-6991. Opting out with us does not automatically opt you out with Partners who already received your information, so you may need to contact them directly too.
6. Your choices
You can ask us to stop sharing your information, correct it, or delete it by emailing quotes@privatefloodrates.com or calling (888) 800-6991. You can request this whether or not your state has a privacy law, and we'll honor it where we reasonably can.
7. How long we keep information
We keep quote request information for as long as we need it to provide our service and meet legal and business obligations. We keep consent records for at least five years so we can show that contact was authorized. After that, we delete or de-identify the information.
8. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect the information we collect, including encrypted connections on our forms. No system is perfectly secure, and we can't guarantee the security of information sent over the internet.
9. Your state privacy rights and Do Not Sell or Share
Residents of California and of other states with consumer privacy laws, including Colorado, Connecticut, Oregon, Texas, Utah, and Virginia, may have these rights, depending on where they live:
- Know and access: learn what personal information we've collected about you, where it came from, why we use it, and who we share it with, and get a copy.
- Correct: ask us to fix inaccurate information.
- Delete: ask us to delete your information, subject to legal exceptions such as keeping consent records.
- Opt out of sale, sharing, and targeted advertising: tell us not to sell or share your information with Partners or use it for cross-site advertising.
- Non-discrimination: we won't treat you differently for using these rights.
How to make a request. Email quotes@privatefloodrates.com with the subject line "Privacy Request" or call (888) 800-6991. Tell us which right you're using and give us the name, email, and phone number you submitted so we can find and verify your information. An authorized agent may submit a request for you with your signed permission. We'll respond within 45 days, or tell you if we need up to 45 more.
Appeals. If we deny your request, you can appeal by replying to our decision or emailing quotes@privatefloodrates.com with the subject line "Privacy Appeal." We'll respond within the time your state's law requires. If you're still not satisfied, you can contact your state attorney general.
